Protecting Your Pool Through Monsoon Season

Continental Pool Maintenance TeamJanuary 22, 20265 min read

Heavy rainfall dilutes chlorine and disrupts pH balance faster than most owners expect. During monsoon months, we recommend testing water chemistry at least twice weekly rather than the usual weekly cadence.

Runoff carrying organic debris is the biggest driver of algae blooms after storms. Backwashing your filter promptly after heavy rain — rather than waiting for the next scheduled visit — prevents a much larger clean-up later.

Electrical equipment deserves particular attention. Confirm that pump and heater enclosures are properly sealed, and avoid running equipment during active lightning to protect both the system and your household.

If your pool is enrolled in a maintenance programme, ask your provider whether they adjust visit frequency seasonally — ours does, automatically, from May through September.
